GPA for Colleges

When applying to college, there are two main types of GPA that the admissions committee and scholarship committee will want to see: weighted GPA and unweighted GPA.  Many of the top colleges only look at unweighted GPA.  This is because high schools do not all use the same scales for weighted GPA, and some do not use weighted GPA at all.  That is why some colleges do not consider weighted GPA.  On the other hand, many colleges do look at weighted GPA, since it encourages  students to take more difficult courses.  You should verify with your college which GPA type they want for your application.  Also be sure to use the correct GPA scale.
