Weighted Average GPA

Weighted average GPA is different from weighted GPA.  The key difference is that a weighted average GPA can use any grading scale.  A weighted GPA is calculated based on an adjusted grading scale.

Weighted Average GPA

When calculating weighted average GPA, all you need to have are the grades received and the number of credits for each class.  Then simply multiply the grade points for each class by the number of credits for each class.  Then sum all of these totals and divide by the total number of credits.  This will result in an aggregate weighted average GPA.  To calculate cumulative weighted average GPA, just use the grade points and credits for all classes.  Then divide this by the total number of credits.  Check out this article for more info on calculating a weighted average.

Weighted GPA

Weighted GPA is different from weighted average GPA. Weighted GPA uses an adjusted grading scale to give additional focus on difficult classes.  It will usually be calculated also using a weighted average, based on number of credits.
