Weighted Grade Calculation

weighted GPA calculation to figure out your weighted GPA by hand. To make things simpler, we have created an
online weighted grade calculator to easily and quickly make the calculation for you.
There is a common misunderstanding about weighted average GPA and weighted GPA. They are not the same thing. A weighted average GPA takes into account the number of credits for each class. In a weighted average grading system, a 4-credit class counts 4 times as much as a 1-credit class.
In a weighted GPA system, however, certain advanced classes are graded on a different scale. For instance, an A in wood shop would receive 4.0 grade points, whereas an A grade in AP Chemistry would usually receive 5.0 grade points (depending on the specific grading scale used). A weighted GPA will usually also be a weighted average GPA, meaning that it also takes into account the number of credits for each class when determining aggregate GPA.
